This mission trip included 16 participants and was very successful. We were able to build a simple one room home for an elderly couple, Thomas and Martina. Thomas has terminal cancer, and for whatever time he has left will live in a clean, dry comfortable home with wheelchair access to the street, and windows to look out on their lovely hillside views. We were also able to pour the foundation for a new bathroom for them and their extended family, which will include a shower, sink and toilet with hot and cold running water. The water heater will be provided by the family. Currently, they have a toilet only and use a bucket of water to flush it. Our first project on the October trip will be to finish the bathroom, and build a ramp and stairs from the front door of the house to the side yard so that Martina can access the bathroom and water supply without having to go through the gate. You might need to see the pictures to understand it!The children at St. Joseph's are doing well, happy and enjoying the summer.
