Come Visit Us in Trujillo! We really hope that our
friends and family will be able to
visit us while we are in Peru. It is relatively easy to get
to
Trujillo - as the third largest city in Peru it has its own airport!
We generally fly from Houston to Lima which is about a 6 hour
flight. You will probably have to spend the night in
Lima,
because most international flights from the U.S. land in Lima
late
at night.
There are good motels in Lima in which you can stay.
I'm certain there are many great hotels in Lima, but Ralph,
Katie
and I stayed at the Sheraton two years ago and enjoyed it (click here

check rates and availability). You
can catch the one hour flight to Trujillo the next day (about $70 one
way) or you can ride the bus (about an 8 hour ride that costs 70 soles
or about $23 one way). Another funny quirk to traveling here - check your money before you leave. Peruvians will not accept any torn bills. That's means no little tears anywhere and no torn corners. Not even banks wil accept them! They are worthless here! Remember that Trujillo is south of the equator so the seasons are reversed. That doesn't matter too much, because the weather is moderate all year round. But it does mean that Trujillo could be a great winter get away!
